Glad we clarified the age in question BUT I dont think 15 or 16 makes a big difference. I think at either age they are still too young and changing the law can help on more than one levels. It can help contain the rise of HIV amongst teenagers, pregnancies and STD's.

That age is the surface of our sexual inquires, and interest and thats with both girls and boys. So if we have parents educating our children as well as laws in place that would certainly help to contain some of the issues we are faced with.

RE: Should the legal age of consent be changed from 15 to 18 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines?

Yes Pixie, the age of consent is fifteen years old.

RE: Should the legal age of consent be changed from 15 to 18 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines?

Are you sure that the age of consent is 15. In my opinion, the pervs that wrote this into law should be gathered in a public park and beheaded.

RE: Should the legal age of consent be changed from 15 to 18 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines?

To answer you question directly - Yes!. Yes the age for consent should be raised to 18. I say this not because I think at age 18 the individuals would be more responsible, I say it only because i think it will give these Kid a longer period of "protection" from these predator, and an opportunity to complete their basic education.

The truth is even aged and seasoned adult are sexually irresponsible. Evident in the number of STD cases around the world. Aging hasn't really proven to make us smarter or more responsible - sexually or otherwise.

I suggest we teaching our children how to be independent and responsible.
Should the legal age of consent be changed from 15 to 18 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines?

In St. Vincent and the Grenadines persons are deemed to be adults at age 18 at which time they obtain the right to vote. However, under the constitution the legal age of consent is 15 years old. Thus, what currently obtains are predatory relationships where adult males prey on young girls who are just over 15 years and who are still in schools. Are 15 year olds (males and females) capable enough to handle the responsibilities that come with sexual involvement? Should the age of consent be moved to 18 or should it be retained in its old form?
