How do you feel about this exercise? Do you think women are doing this to enhance their sexuality or do you think that it is an excellent core and upper strength exercise.

Men how would you feel about your woman pole dancing?

Family Secrets...

Another International Women's Day has been celebrated with much fanfare in many quarters of the globe and while women have made significant strides in the socio-economic and politic spheres there are still taboo subjects in many households. Yes, incest and child molestation in some communities are guarded family secrets. Secrecy protects the respectable family image, while our children, both girls and boys suffer in silence. How do we shatter this culture of silence? How can we make a difference?

Equality of the sexes: Is there such a thing?

Our societies are constructed on biblical teachings which define women as the weaker of the two sexes. She was and to some extent still is placed in a position of subservience to men. Is there such a thing as equality of the sexes or is this just a misguided notion pushed by women engaged in the women's movement.

Selling Virginity

"If you’re one of the millions of people who believe that you can buy just about anything online, then you now have proof. A 21-year-old college graduate from Sacramento, Natalie Dylan, is offering up her virginity for sale to the highest bidder" This is a quote from an article I posted, and wanted to know if you think that this is prostitution? Is this wrong? have we crossed our limits online?

Read the story by clicking on the link below

http://www.carifuna.com/information/info_toparticle.aspx?CatId=3&ArticleId=3533
Skin lightening cream

In a story posted last week, by Carifuna.com, it was stated that women in Senegal are using lightening creams that have now been determined to be a health hazard. These skin lightening creams contains steroids or hydroquinone, that will start to peel away at the skin. The worst part of this story is that many women are not focused on the effects that these creams may have, they are more concerned that they won’t have the necessary supply to help them "look better".
Why do black women feel it is necessary to use products such as these to determine their beauty? This is not just an issue in Senegal it is very popular amongst the women in the Caribbean. Is it that we really do believe that anything white is better than black. I grew up hearing the saying, "anything black never good".
Tell me your opinion, do you use these creams? what are you're concerns? how does this affect us as a people?
"NO Pregnancy" Rule

This was a very short article BUT it was loud and clear. With a no tolerance to teenage pregnancy the Government of Guyana is stripping the education rights for young mothers to be. Other than the blatant discrimination towards these teenage girls; there is no mention or consequences for the fathers that impregnate these girls.
Have the Government of Guyana taken too harsh of an action against our teenage mothers? Or do you think that this will have a positive impact on them and the country?

http://www.carifuna.com/information/info_article.aspx?i=999&CatId=19&SubCatId=518&ArticleId=8452
Women on the NYC Subway

This story has touched me to the very core and thought I should share it with you. Please click through to the link for the entire story.
“The young woman had been attacked in full view of a New York City subway clerk, then dragged down the steps onto a deserted platform where she was raped and raped again, the assailant not stopping even when a subway train pulled into the station.”
www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30105703/
How safe are we on the NYC subway?
Do you think the Clerk did all that he could?
Do you agree with the judge in this case?
Has anyone ever suffered from the ruins of the subway, maybe a flasher, touching, robbed etc?
