You aren't really sick of Swine Flu- You are sick of the BS propaganda the media feeds you- The lack of real journalism makes me sick. So I turn off the idiot box. I tune into people all over the world and listen to their stories. This is why I appreciate forums like this. Because we get to tell our story here.

RE: Am so sick of the Swine Flu media hype

I don't want to downplay the seriousness of the Swine Flu but I think the news need to report on this more responsibly. Please don't compare this to the 1918 influenza that killed millions people when you know little about the disease. When you do this you are just SCARING the living out of daylight out people. Let the medical experts do that, not the news anchors. And we need some consistency in the reporting. One day we focusing on the Somali Pirates, then next day the Craigslist Killer and then the next day a death of a Hollywood actor etc. But we never really talk about it after that one HYPE of interest. Everyday there is ONE thing that causes HUGE controversy and debate and the next day we forget about it and move on to the next. I hope this is not how the Swine Flu gets reported. The Media should not over report on this and neither should they under report. Just my view... my voice:D

RE: Am so sick of the Swine Flu media hype

The media has once again managed to scare and cripple everyday lives for many of us by relaying only what they want us to know. Like you said, it has only killed the poor, the people who cannot afford to seek medical attention. This thing has everyone on edge, I was in the movie theater this past weekend and someone sneezed and without hesitation the couple sitting beside this person moved. They have closed three schools here in South Florida of "suspected cases". This thing has gotten way out of control.

As "my Voice" stated before Aids has been around for years and yet we still have sex without condoms knowing the consequences, but a couple people die from a cold( that hasn't been treated) and we all wear masks and pretend that washing hands is a new trend.

Is it that these "idiot boxes" depict and rule our everyday lives, from how we eat, to the way we dress and now to proper hygiene, something that should have always been practiced?

RE: Am so sick of the Swine Flu media hype

All except 1 death occurred in Mexico. All were people who took too long to get medical attention. All were poor people. Swine Flu may have dealt the final blow- but their poverty stricken circumstances is what lead to their death. When you are poor, taking time off from work to seek medical attention is an after thought. To poor people taking off has more immediate risks such as lost of wages and sometimes lost of your job.
Fear is the norm- repackaged time and time again by our so called leaders so they can maintain control. They create these monsters (Avian Flu, Swine Flu, Terrorism) that only they can see and control. And we the "endangered one" must cling to them for protection. The media ( i hate using the term media- since there are real people that are responsible for this BS) peddles the BS whole sale and retail. Yes, and we buy it- hook, line and sinker. Sitting in front of our idiot boxes (TV) sucking the HYPE. What news?- its All HYPE!
You see, for us reading, thinking, seeking a source that requires come to our own conclusion is out dated- too much work. We like HYPE, we thrive on HYPE
I am sick of the HYPE!!!!!

Am so sick of the Swine Flu media hype

90 people or so gets the swine flu and everyone wants to wear surgical masks but millions of people have HIV/AIDS and people still won't wear condoms.
