According to a CNN report,  christian evangelist Pat Robertson suggested that Haiti's "pact made to the devil" brought on the devastating earthquake in Haiti."  This pact according to Robertson resulted in the freeing of slaves in Haiti by France. Is this suggestion another white racist position  geared at demonising and denigrating everything that is African and everything that is black? Does this evangelist know what he is talking about?

I am reading this with a smile. I have thought about writing a response to Pat's statement but I really didn’t want to give his absurd statement any more energy. Without a doubt Pat speaks from white racist perspective, as he has always done. So his statement came as no surprise to me. But here is the kicker- is he only speaking from white racist stand point? It isn’t by accident that Pat Robinson leads America’s, if not the world’s, most known Christian organization, the 700 Club. Pat not only speaks from a white supremacist perspective, he also speaks from a Christian perspective- Christianity as it was infused on us. Pat has never hid his views about people of African descent, yet his “700 Club” has remained one of the wealthiest religious organizations and Pat is still a multimillionaire. Pat speaks on behalf of millions and is well rewarded for doing so.

People like Pat need help. If i could have pork Pat in his mouth every time he open it i'll do it. The thing is the media haven't even go after Pat over his comment so to me it seem others in the media share the same sentiment.

Well I think that the Devil was on the 700 Club some time ago, and when interviewed by Pat, the Devil told him this.   How else would he know this.  He is so sure of himself.

Missy, the Devil probabely was but as the Kalinago Chief indicated Pat's view is representative of a very wide following.  The fact is demonising African culture in particular, its religions, its languages, and I could go on, has always been a tool geared at controlling blacks.  One of the fundametal values of religion is its unifying ability, its ability to bring people together for a common cause.  Slave masters in Haiti and in practically every slave society recognised this, thus to keep religion away from the slaves was to keep him subjected. . However, so resilient were our ancestors that they created new religions in their new homes: voodoo, spiritual baptist, myalism etc. Voodoo meetings played a significant role in unifying the slaves in Haiti when they rose up in rebellion against their white masters...But what is the common perception about voodoo, myalism, spiritual baptists?  We know - devilish, demonic etc.  This is no accident, thus Pat's statement falls right in line with how we have come to perceive Africa and by extenstion children of African descent.

Well as Desmond Tutu once said:

When the white men went to Africa, they had the bible, and the blacks had the land...The whitemen then said to "let's all bow our head in prayer."  When they were done and eyes were opened, the Blackmen had the bible and the whitemen had the lands"  It is still happening today but kinda differently.  Check out Mustique.
