Guyanese cross dressers are suing their state to overturn a law which makes it illegal for a man to appear in public dressed as a female or for a female person to do the same. Transgenders of Trinidad and Tobago are eagerly monitoring this case as it may indicate that the Caribbean is finally ready to begin accepting transgenders. Ashily Dior, A Trinidadian transgendered person, asked the question-"Who is really hurt when transgenders dress up?" I think its a great question. Who is really hurt when a man dresses like a female? Why do we dislike it?

| This goes back to the question i asked in am another forum topic- Is the issue homosexuality or is it homophobia? But the answer to the question of hurt isnt always obvious- sometimes it requires us to look into ourselves and deal with teh answers we find there.

Who is really hurt when transgenders dress?
1stly - One will prefer that they are dressed rather than parading naked, so an appropriate question will be "who is hurt when the dress the way they do?" In its simplicity, the answer can be 'every homosapien.' As a child many people may have seen boys wearing their sisters clothes and either scolded by their older siblings or embraced by the warmth of a leather belt by their parents. So a sense of wrong was instilled from childhood yet we can walk in our cities today and still have to wonder where it all went wrong. This is not usually the case where parents are concerned seeing that their are parents who raise their kids and allow them to 'express' themselves. Cross dressing is offensive or should be offensive to women first of all. Ladies, its month end, you've been eyeballing this outfit for like 2 weeks, finally its yours to own, so u purchase it. You're excited, so the very next time you're going out, whether it be on a date or chilling with the girls, dressed to kill, you're in line to the hottest night spot and lo and behold a trans brushes past you in the same outfit, with some stilettos and fishnet stockings to add to it. How would you feel? You can only hope that you are pulling it off better than he is.... Guys, in a case where u walking down the rd and you're seeing this person with a lil swagger in their step, you look and wonder and to your surprise when she turns around its actually a man with too many X chromosomes. How would you feel? Sick! upset! Trans G's mess with the intellectual capacity of a human being, makes us question if our moralistic values no longer exist or if they were there in the 1st place. Yes everyone has right to do what they please but it seems that moral barriers are being broken when we show our children that this is accepted and all is well. Why support it if we ourselves wont do it? Would you go out with a trans? In the case of women dressing like men, are they trans as well? Fellers, will you go out with a girl rocking a baggy jeans, timberland boots and button ups (and she not working on a construction site)?

| Sterling, Are you said that because a female may be offended seeing a man dressed in the same outfit she is, a transgender person should not be allowed to express himself. If I go somewhere and see another female in my outfit, I am embarrassed but that does not mean the other female should not be allowed to express herself through her choice of dress. Your answer goes to pride, to being superficial. Is that sufficient reason to limit how transgenders dress? I would prefer that men dress like men and women dress like women, but that's my preference. Some men think women should always dress in heels and have long hair...that's their preference, to me it smacks up of ignorance and superficiality but at the end of the day its still their preference. So leave transgenders alone...their attire is a physical manifestation of how they feel inside. It's a sign to me this man thinks he's a woman. I would rather he express himself and I have clear notice of his physiological state.

| Hi whats next, I will like to express my apologies firstly for not adding my disclaimer in my last post and what I am gonna say. YES, my view was strickly from a close minded, homophobic, pride filled, superficial point of view. Im glad that this manifestation/expression gives you a clear indication of where you stand with an individual. Deuteronomy 22:5: "The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God."
This issue is not a matter of "freedom of expression" so to speak. I agree that they have all rights as a human being to bring forth what they have boiling in their souls and express it to the world, but that dont mean it right. I am not one of those persons who feel that women should always have long hair and wear heel, yes thats a preference to most, but i believe you should stay true to your sexual orientation. SO (with all due respect) ... the next time you are not sure about a mans sexual preferences, my suggestion is to simply ask... @ the same time 1 Samuel 16:7: "... the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."
So its not to say that the Lord wont accept these men for who they are. Cross dressing is a window to homosexuality and that was never the plan God had when he created Eve for the rib of Adam. My Point: It offends God to see his children stray and though we should not judge our brothers and sisters, its offensive that this is the path they have taken to some homophobic people but nevertheless its still their choice
