Recently a popular Florida priest was seen with a woman on the beach, through photos that was released to a local paper. However this caused a great uproar amongst his church family as well as members/ followers of this religion. He was punished for his action, meaning he lost his position within the church, he was banished from Sunday mass,  and all or any operations he dealt with in the church has come to an end.

Now does a simple, yet natural action such as embracing, kissing or touching a female justifies the harsh actions that was taken against this Priest? Or does "the vow of celibacy" takes precedent over ones natural feelings, needs and wants? Do you think the church takes away the right to embark on natural human pleasures (mainly sexual)?

The rule of the church stated that he not to be with any female. He should have continue to keep it on the down low but it better than messing with boys.

Now folks I when I heard this story on the news I smiled, smiled not because its funny, but it brought some ease to my pain that it was not some little boy he was fondling. As you and I know that a lot of this is going on in our churches, which is very wrong. Now I am not condoning what he did, he took a vow and i think he should lived by it,  when he realised where his feelings were heading he should have stepped down.

Should the catholic church deal with him harshly i seriously don't think so, they have bigger issues within their walls to deal with or should i say they need to deal with.

I don't think the church dealt with him too harshly. Being a priest ( and I would assume a catholic priest) takes precedence over any physical needs he may have. He chose to serve God 100% and he is unable to do that so maybe he needs a time out. Not everyone who becomes a priest is following God's calling. This priest is such an example. Now he can run as much women as he wants !

Jesus was the last claim of a virgin birth propagated within the last 2000 years. Before his story there when many more virgin birth stories. Christianity in its modern form is just the latest religion to promote the ideology. Now I mention this only to lay foundation to my following points. For Christians the virgin birth makes Jesus "perfect" from birth. for Catholic it elevated Mary to a status not attainable by any other woman in the Modern times (for this discussion the last 2000 years).

What this also means is that we as mankind are imperfect from birth (born in sin). Our chances of meeting up to the standard set forth by Jesus, the christian's leader, was nipped in the "bud" or vagina, maybe both. Here comes the irony- the christian church turn around and ask these men, who were born of sin, _ priest, pastors, deacons, to be christlike. Not only do they ask them to be christlike they ask them to teach us to be that way too. So the church say we are all fcukups then they turn around and tell us "be good now"

Are you kidding? we already know that he (priest) didn't stand a chance from birth. So don't act surprise or alarm when he fails to live up to those standards that you have come to expect. Your intelligence  should have prepared you for this reality- that he will "fall short of the glory". Our nature (for those us who embrace our sexual nature) should have made you realize that priest should and would have desire that have to be met- one way or the other. And that commitment, oaths, Vows tend to be weak in the face of human desires. Today the reports of "sexual misconducts" at the Vatican are numerous- this is where "God's ambassadors" live

I see you are happy that its not a little boy. I am also happy for that. I am happy too thats its not a little girl. I even more happy he got his grove with a consenting adult! sweet!!!!!!!

It is natural and normal for man to be sexually drawn to the opposite sex - biological offers a simple enough explanation.  The central issue surrounding this debate  is whether the church should have taken the punitive measures which it did.  Absolutely - every institution has rules and regulations to which are attached disciplinary measures if the rules are infringed.

Was the priest aware of the rules? Yes he was.  We do not begin to play a game of tennis, football or any other game for that matter, then change the rules mid way into the game because we are losing. We do have  a choice though, we can continue the game or forfeit the match.  Likewise, the priest in question does have a choice.  The indignities and the injustices of the Catholic Church is another issue.

At the heart of this discussion is the hypocrisy of the rules by which the games is played (if you wish to consider religion a game). Homosexual within the church who abuse young boys and girls get shuffled around so they can prey on other young boys and girls. At the heart of the matter is hypocrisy at the head of the churches- and the blind faith that lead others expect better.

The reference to games there was to show analogy, that is comparison to institutions which are governed by rules.  I have absolutely no doubt as to where religion fits in - certainly it is no game although many of us treat it as though it were.   My response to the question posed, still holds - the priest in question knew the rules and the consequences for those actions.

Yes, the church and by extension our society is riddled with hypocrisy, a hypocrisy which is enshrined in possibly every social institution to which we belong.  A hypocrisy which defines not only the church but families, education, our economic relations to power,  etc. Still - that hypocrisy has become our own because we have become experts at not directly confronting them.

So your point is that, since we didn't stand a chance from birth, we shouldn't make an effort to do right? Yes, we're born in sin, hence the blood of a perfect man was required to be sacrificed to redeem mankind (born in sin) back to God. God has given us a chance to repent, and has promised that if we do, He will forgive us our sins. Isa. 1: 16-20.

BTW:  "God's ambassadors" don't live at the Vatican, if the do, the Roman Catholic Church will not be out the propagating FALSE doctrines contrary to the teachings of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. - Joshua 24: 15

Matt. 7: 21-23. Jesus Christ knew that Christianity which he founded would in time be counterfeited, so he warned against false prophets. Matt. 24: from verse 3 down...besides, homosexuality is a SIN and the scriptures CLEARLY condemns it.
